Specialist Intervention & Behaviour Support

Behaviour support is about creating individualised strategies for people with disability that are responsive to the person’s needs, in a way that reduces and eliminates the need for the use of regulated restrictive practices.

Behaviour support focuses on evidence-based strategies and person-centred supports that address the needs of the person with disability and the underlying causes of behaviours of concern, whist safeguarding the dignity and quality of life of people with disability who require specialist behaviour support.

Our team of Behaviour Support Practitioners and Skill Development workers are highly skilled and work from the principles of choice and control, empowering participants to achieve their aspirations and goals for independence. The Positive Behaviour Support Framework utilised by our service recognises that there are several factors that influence the cycle of behaviours of concern. Our service provides coordinated intervention through a care team approach to capture these factors alongside the individual and the key relationships in their life.
